Mission-Critical Details:
September Launch
Time: Between 29 Sep and 2 Oct (next weekend)
Where: 5 miles west of Harwood, ND (near Fargo)
How to help: Tricia will be making Igniters Thursday for the wireless ignition tests. Tricia is also compiling the preflight equipment and procedure checklists -- if you have anything to add let her know.
The rocket is fine except for a bit of scoring from the launch rail. The rail buttons will have to be replaced eventually. The trailer checks out, but some of the bungee cords that were on it have disintegrated.
Tim will be going to NDSU on Friday and Tuesday to brief NDSU and do the wireless ignition and telemetry tests. Everything that NDSU doesn't do will get done here on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday next week -- so be sure to stop by and see what's going on
Meeting Details
Aside from discussing the September launch, we also discussed the payload competition. The flyers have been printed up, and presently there are already a few groups forming. The EERC plans to do a gas sampler, while John Engle was thinking of building an accelerometer. SPS on campus and a Williston group are also working on projects.
Proposals for the payloads are due November 2nd. Winning ideas will get $300-500 and a rocket kit to test the payload before launch.
STRIPE will be getting some Witmer display space -- We will be putting up some posters, the nose cone, and possibly a DVD display.
The Website needs a lot of work, especially since the payload posters are going up. There will be some meetings on Thursday and Friday afternoons in Witmer 221 to try to work on getting all the pictures up and such.
We also inventoried the equipment that's been boxed up.
